Membership Criteria

The Quality Breeders Associaton is open to all quality breeders and concerned dog owners.

We use the term "professional" in our literature to mean breeders that go about their business in a professional manner. For example - by improving or maintaining breed standards, by taking good care of their dogs, by maintaining correct and appropriate records and paperwork, by finding the best possible homes for their puppies and by providing the best possible care for their puppies from birth until they leave home. Some people use the term "Hobby Breeder" to imply the same thing. We do NOT mean people who raise hundreds of litters each year to try and make a profit by exploiting or mistreating their dogs in any way.

Standards

The QBA Standards Committee has developed a list of Standards for Quality Breeders. It has been organized in such a way that in addition to the paid levels of membership we now offer 4 levels of breeder membership ranging from Member Breeder to Master Breeder. The points system form can be printed and returned to us by mail, fax or scanned and emailed along with the supporting documentation (i.e. inspection certificate, proof of seminar attendance etc.) We have made available a standard reference for your veterinarian to complete as well as standard references for people that have purchased one or more puppies from you in the past.

Each document that is returned to us will receive a number of "points", our members will qualify for points and will receive verifications by their profile on our website to show propsective puppy purchasers that they adhere to the standards as set and meet certain criteria. It is our hope that this association will grow to such a level that ALL people looking for puppies - especially online - will look first for the verification mark so that they are assured that they are not purchasing a puppy from a mill but are getting the best quality, healthy puppy that they can. The forms are currently downloadable in adobe .pdf format - we will be creating online forms soon. If you have any problems downloading the forms please contact us and we will email the forms in Word .doc format. Please visit our membership levels page to see our members progress.

If you see a member that is listed on our website that you do not feel is a "professional" or "quality" breeder please let us know. To have a person removed from the website before the visits are carried out, we will need at least three separate complaints or physical hard proof of a violation.

We look forward to updating this page and providing you with the best possible services & resources that we can.

The Quality Breeders Association reserves the right to refuse or deny membership to anyone that we feel is an unsuitable match for our mission and purpose.
