About Us

The Quality Breeders Association (QBA) was founded in 2008 as a non profit corporation in Tennessee, to service both Professional Breeders, owners and concerned puppy purchasers.

One of the primary goals of QBA is to provide much needed information on current and proposed legislation to dog owners and breeders.  Many laws recently enacted - and many more pending - could force you to get your puppies altered by four months of age, posing great health risks to the dogs.

Other laws make it possible for insurance companies to exclude your dog from your homeowner's policy or to charge you higher rates to include them.  Some cities and states are banning certain dog breeds altogether.

So many laws and regulations seem to target responsible dog owners, while those operating unethical kennels continue to slip under the radar with impunity.

It is your job, as a responsible breeder or owner, to know of the pending laws in your area and to try and help pass the good ones and stop the bad ones.

Quality Breeders Association (QBA) also offers a set of Standards for Quality Breeders that we encourage our members to adhere to. For each standard met, and verified, the member gains points. These points are added up and give you the ability to work your way from "Member Breeder" (400 points) through the four levels up to "Master Breeder" (1,000 points). At each level you will receive a badge for your website and marketing materials a well as being listed on our membership levels page on our website. This way people looking to adopt puppies can be assured that you are, indeed, a Quality Breeder.

Another one of our primary goals is to bring quality breeders together to share information, help, and advice.
